Origin & Production:
Cruz White Port is a premium fortified wine from the Douro Valley in Portugal, produced by the renowned Porto Cruz house. Crafted from traditional white grape varieties, it undergoes a short maceration process before being fortified with grape brandy. The wine is then aged in oak casks under oxidative conditions, developing its golden color, velvety texture, and a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity.
Tasting Notes:
In the glass, it shows a warm golden-amber hue with bright reflections. The aroma is fragrant and inviting, offering floral notes, ripe orchard fruits such as apple and pear, and hints of citrus peel. Underneath, layers of dried fruit and honey add depth and elegance. On the palate, it is smooth and rounded, revealing flavors of apricot, peach, grapefruit, and soft honeyed sweetness. The finish is long and refreshing, leaving a lingering touch of citrus and delicate dried fruit.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve well-chilled between 8–10 °C to enjoy its fresh character, or pour over ice for a casual yet sophisticated presentation. It pairs beautifully with fruit-based desserts such as pear tart or apple crumble, and works wonderfully alongside light cheeses. For a modern twist, mix it with tonic water and a slice of lemon to create a refreshing White Port & Tonic, perfect for warm afternoons or as a stylish aperitif.
