Origin & Production:
Cruz 10 Year Old Tawny Port is a refined expression from the famed Porto Cruz house, crafted in the Douro Valley of Portugal. Made from a blend of traditional grape varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca, it is vinified in the classic port style before being fortified with grape spirit. The wine is aged for an average of ten years in seasoned oak casks, allowing slow oxidation that develops its distinctive amber hue and layered complexity.
Tasting Notes:
Displaying a rich amber color with golden highlights, this Tawny Port offers an elegant bouquet of dried fruits, figs, walnuts, and raisins, enhanced by subtle notes of caramel, vanilla, and warm spice from extended oak aging. On the palate, it is smooth and balanced, with flavors of candied orange peel, toffee, and almond, supported by a gentle acidity that keeps the sweetness fresh. The finish is long, mellow, and harmoniously rounded.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve slightly chilled at around 12–14 °C to highlight its aromatic finesse. Ideal as an after-dinner drink, it pairs beautifully with nut-based desserts, crème brûlée, and mild blue cheeses. It also complements dried fruits and roasted almonds for an elegant tasting experience. For a sophisticated touch, enjoy it alongside a fine cigar or as part of a special celebration.
