Origin & Production:
Cruz Ruby Porto is a vibrant fortified wine from the heart of Portugal’s Douro Valley, made from traditional grape varieties including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca. After fermentation, it is fortified with grape spirit to preserve natural sweetness and aged in large oak vats for a shorter period compared to tawnies, allowing it to retain its youthful character and rich, deep color.
Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby red in appearance, this Port offers fresh and intense aromas of blackberries, ripe plums, and black cherries, enhanced by subtle notes of cocoa and spice. The palate is fruit-forward and luscious, delivering flavors of jammy black fruits, hints of dark chocolate, and a smooth, velvety texture. Its natural sweetness is balanced by soft tannins, creating a rich yet approachable profile.
Serving Suggestion:
Best enjoyed slightly chilled or at room temperature, it pairs perfectly with chocolate desserts, berry tarts, or creamy blue cheese. Also ideal as an after-dinner drink, either on its own or in classic Port-based cocktails.
